I was walking back from rehearsal one night when I noticed shadows on the ground. A streetlight was shining through trees (almost like a down light) and it created a nice texture on the sidewalk. It reminded me of the Gobo that is most often used for creating the illusion of forests or water. The reason I found this so remarkable was that whenever I had seen the Gobo used in shows I had always just accepted the Gobo as, "This is just an interpretation of texture for light shining through trees". I didn't really believe that this texture could be found in the real world, mostly because I had never bothered to look for myself and see if the texture could be found in nature. So when I saw this on the sidewalk I was like, "Woah! Stop! Gotta take a picture of this because this is awesome!" For myself it was kind of an "Ah ha!" moment where I realized the legitimacy of the Gobo and how accurate it actually was in imitating nature.
These pics of the natural gobos turned out great! It looks just like the gobo :) I like the contrast of the natural texture with the manmade street light source. :) nice!
